The Bottle Bills Deserve a NO Vote: Reason #5 to Can the Bills and Your $0.10 Question of the Day

Too many Rhode Island families and local businesses are struggling under the weight of inflation and rising costs. The bottle bills (H-6207 / S-996 and H-6206 / S-997) proposed by the state legislature would only make things worse. The reasons are a dime a dozen (or bottle) to reject these bills.

Reason #5 to Can the Bottle Bills:

There are better options. We all want to increase recycling rates in our state, but a new system that raises costs on our families and businesses is not the option. Instead, let’s focus on a system that makes recycling more convenient, more accessible, and complements existing programs already at work in Rhode Island.

Your $0.10 Question of the Day:

How are the Governor and legislative leaders addressing the issue most Rhode Islanders care about? 89% of Rhode Islanders agree that the cost of living in the state is too high, and 87% agree that the costs of groceries and beverages in Rhode Island are too high. The last thing state leaders should be doing is imposing a new bottle tax that will make groceries even more expensive.

Rhode Island can’t afford a bottle bill tax. Vote “NO” on the bottle bills and let’s find a smarter way to keep our state clean without hurting our families and local businesses.
