The Bottle Bills Deserve a NO Vote: Reason #1 to Can the Bills and Your $0.10 Question of the Day

Too many Rhode Island families and local businesses are struggling under the weight of inflation and rising costs. The bottle bills (H-6207 / S-996 and H-6206 / S-997) proposed by the state legislature would only make things worse. The reasons are a dime a dozen (or bottle) to reject these bills.

Reason #1 to Can the Bottle Bills:

It hurts Rhode Island families. A bottle bill would increase the cost of nearly every beverage sold, hurting working families who are already struggling to afford groceries.  The $0.10 deposit fee would hike the price of a 24-pack of water by $2.40 and a 12-pack of soft drinks by $1.20.

Your $0.10 Question of the Day:

Is there a cap on how high the bottle redemption fee can be set at? The bills set the redemption fee at $0.10, but if redemption target rates are not met, that redemption fee may be increased during specified periods of time. There is no cap limiting the redemption increase.

Rhode Island can’t afford a bottle bill tax. Vote “NO” on the bottle bills and let’s find a smarter way to keep our state clean without hurting our families and local businesses.
